The consulting firm Progressive Urban Management Associates (P.U.M.A.) will be coming to Downtown Santa Cruz to share more information with downtown businesses and property owners about proposed changes with assessments and the downtown district.
There will be two dates to choose from to attend:

In August 2019, the Downtown Association of Santa Cruz and the City Of Santa Cruz Economic Development Dept. initiated a strategic plan in partnership with an outside firm, Progressive Urban Management Associates (P.U.M.A.), for the maintenance and management of the Downtown area.
After many months of work and outreach, P.U.M.A. has come forward to us with an outline of recommendations, based on feedback from the community, for moving forward. Some of the recommendations could lead to efforts to consider consolidating our assessments into one PBID, property-based assessment, instead of the two existing smaller assessments: a property based assessment and a business assessment which exists now. (Yes, this potentially means no business assessment). This model, a PBID, is fairly standard at this point in Downtowns around the country.
